We are building a new summer house in the archipelago by the sea. The location is in a sheltered bay on a rocky hill side with view. The construction has started. It will be a log house, you can already see the places for the windows, please see latest pictures.
After a small mistake were a plug was put in one of the electricity cable reservations we were faced with the challenge of how to remove it. Check out the pictures with comments on what happened.
Once this issue was solved the work could continue. However, another mistake was made; one of the main long logs was installed to early so that the space for windows became too small. A new log had to be ordered. After quick delivery from the supplier all logs were installed.
The roof is in place including the supporting pillars under the part of the roof which will cover the deck outside. Installing the pillars was somewhat challenging as they need to stand straight and involved also adjustable fixings.
Installation of the windows was complicated due to the mistake in the log assembly phase which led to that the openings for the main windows were too low. So the openings had to be made higher by use of chain saw. A fairly cumbersome job. Lesson learned: Avoid mistakes :). While the smaller windows were easy to install the big main windows weight more than 80 kg each. In order to lift them into place we used block and tackles. This worked nicely and the job could in principle be done by only one person.
